Favorite Cattle - Longevity - Red Bloodlines
Longevity in Red & White BloodlinesWhen we look at pedigrees, we like to see long lists of lactations. We like to see milk produced every year, for many a year. That's one of the first things we look for in a pedigree. If a cow can produce milk for 10 years, it's legs have to be good enough to keep it walking, it's udder is resistant to disease and damage, and it's will to live and milk must be strong. It's something that we value as a family - dedication and commitment - and it's something we expect in our cattle. It's not an easy thing to ask, and it's not an easy thing to build up in a herd of cattle over 25 years. It is what we strive for, and there are certainly some animals in the herd that show it. |
